The San Diego County Sheriff's Department reported Sunday, May 24 that Dianna Bedwell, 67, and a man believed to be her deceased husband, Cecil Paul Knutson, 79, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, were found in the 3100 block of Chichuahua Valley Road at Lost Valley Boy Scouts Camp in Warner Springs.
The family's private investigator, Bill Garcia, said that after a few days it was thought they would be on a recovery mission.
"For them to be found with her alive is an absolute miracle. I just hope she's able to recover and rejoin her family,” said Garcia.
Sheriff's deputies said off-roaders noticed the couple Sunday in a remote area of the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation stuck in mud and boulders and unable to maneuver.
"Other people have gone onto this road based on GPS indications that the road actually leads through and to other side,” said Garcia. “Other people have become lost, but not to this degree."
The couple, both diabetic, were last seen at the Valley View casino on May 10 at about 2:00 p.m.
Relatives told the sheriff's department the couple planned on heading to their son's home in La Quinta in Riverside County, but they never arrived.
